About Us

Dudley Clayson, the original founder of Plus Packaging was a university graduate who launched his career at Proctor & Gamble (P&G), quickly rising through the ranks to Brand Manager for Camay Soap. His success propelled him to Marketing Manager, contributing to P&G's impressive global expansion throughout the 1970s.

Driven by his experience with P&G's commitment to quality, Dudley envisioned building a lasting legacy for his family. He honed his business acumen through various roles, including agency ommissions, lecturing, and freelance consulting.

A pivotal moment arrived with a unique opportunity: selling concertina doors for Liverpool Harbour Cranes. This deal yielded £2000, the seed capital for Clayson
Merchants in 1976. From its humble beginnings on James Street, Garston, the company initially supplied paper bags to the thriving local shops.
